They Are In The Twilight Zone And Have Been Much Longer Than We Realize

These are frightful times, but fear debilitates. Please, as you read this, do not surrender to fear, because your fear is the terrorists’ endgame. It is time for you to be endowed with power. Open your heart for the Divine to breathe new wisdom into you. Your community needs your confidence. I recommend spending a moment with the song linked below.

The illusion of the superiority of white people has long captivated not only many of Western European descent but your friends from Asia, Latin America, Africa, and everywhere else.

Like any illusion, this is not sustainable. It’s like the kid who finds out there’s no Santa Claus. They may begin to ask more questions. Our country has been telling itself the same lie for centuries, but more people are asking more questions about how we got here.

It ought not to need to be said so much, but whomever we may be, we are the same race.

Many of your friends with this illusion are terrified. Some churches have become defensive and are not much different from sleeper cells, warning their people about Black, Brown, and Queer neighbors, women’s bodies, and about sex education in the classroom. Meanwhile kids are sexting and watching porn on their phones.

Those who warn us of such things will not frame it so precisely because, well, the Twilight Zone. They will claim that their fight is against liberals or, more fiercely, socialists. But reality is inevitable. Some will accept, but others will hold out as long as they can, not accepting the option of a more wholesome and equitable world.

They close their eyes against the surge in anti-racist literature and biopics with the untold stories of the likes of Harriet Tubman, Louis Armstrong, Jackie Robinson, Sidney Poitier, Rosa Parks, Nina Simone, Muhammad Ali, Toni Morrison, and John Lewis.

Blackness is rising, not to take over, but that we may take our rightful place as first-class citizens. We understand that as we overcome, so will the Indigenous and other people of color.

We are intent on being first-class citizens of the world.

Your single vote can help those in the Twilight Zone to snap out of it, because, in their echo chambers, they believe they are a majority and the real America.

“The bed is too short to stretch out on,                      the blanket too narrow to wrap around you.” (Isaiah 28:20)
