Covid19 and Me
It finally reached me. I feel like I was jumped into a gang that I wanted to avoid. I am grateful it was/is not more severe.
After two-plus years of being careful, I took a trip to St. Stephen in Canada to teach and catch up with friends. Because symptoms can appear 2-14 days after infection, I can’t say when or where I contracted the virus. It likely happened on my way out because neither my class nor colleagues tested positive, and I became symptomatic when I got home.
At first, I started with brain fog and body aches. About three days later, I felt worse, so I self-tested. I had the Novel Coronavirus. I read and heard from friends who had been sick that Omicron presented mild symptoms that might include nasal congestion. Within hours of testing, I was congested both nasally and bronchially. My MD says it could have been a sub-variant, or I may have had Omicron and Delta simultaneously.
It’s terrific that I was vaxxed and boosted because I remained functional, for the most part. This past Friday, I tested negative. I continue to have chest congestion and overall malaise. I stayed pretty isolated, and Diane has not contracted the virus from me.
Diane and I have lost too many friends and family not to take this seriously.
