They Love You. They Really Love You.
First, we want to make sure we’ve gotten past the idea that love is only delivered in words like “I love you.”
Next, reflect on all the love you’ve received. It’s likely that people who are being paid may have helped you because they see you. You are there and worth the effort. To your gardener, you are more than another yard to maintain. To your plumber, you are more than a faucet to replace. To your supervisor, you are more than another deadline to meet. To your banker, you are more than another loan. To your employee, you are more than a mere paycheck.
When we pause to notice the many sources of love flooding our lives, we provide ourselves a safeguard against cynicism. Nobody can truthfully say, “Nobody loves me.”
Personally, I drink in the love coming from every direction. Occasionally I discover someone loves me that I didn’t even know or notice.
We hear of wars and rumors of wars and wickedness in high places and may be tempted to think that hatred is what powers the world. It’s not true. People, in their humanity, make the world go ‘round. We might want to thank them more.
