What If We Didn’t Need Pride Month?
We all want to know if the world gets better. Are we making social progress or going in circles? Are we stuck in a nihilistic existence?
I am fairly certain you’ve already thought about this. That’s because the finest thoughts don’t strike us in isolation. It is proof of the truth that lives in us that we share our best ideas in various stages of development.
We wonder about a society where there is no longer a need for a Pride Month, or months for Black History, Women’s History, Hispanic-Latin Heritage, Disability Awareness Month, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, or Indigenous Peoples’ Month?
No special months would mean that minoritized people would no longer be minoritized. Marginalized people would not be marginalized. No special months would mean that we commonly understand that everyone is special.
Because we are all special. 🏳️🌈 We are all proud.
