My Intention Set
I used to hear “set your intention,” and then I’d feel inadequate because the mindsplaining would start. What I heard was, “what’s your plan?” As a live-in-the-moment kind of person, that question was not liberating as it might be for some.
Most recently, I have noticed in myself a sort of restlessness with what looks like a lack of responsiveness among people who have so much to give if only they could so perceive. But I began to unearth qualities that would be truly transformative if I made them my intention. I found freedom in setting an intention of gratitude. This kind of aspiration energizes me, and I have taken on something at which I will not fail.
The threat of failure might be the biggest dissuader, keeping people from their practice. It’s almost like, “If I buy an exercise device it could end up being a waste of money.” So what do you do, give up before you start? No, you go with what you can confidently do to win. Take on more another time if necessary.
