That One Person…
At the perfect moment, someone showed you kindness. What they did may not have solved all your problems, but it definitely made a difference.
During my college days, I attended a church event in Santa Maria, California. It was a sunny summer Sunday afternoon when a youth pastor named Billy handed me a five-dollar bill. Perhaps he noticed that my finances were tight for the day. I cannot be sure.
When I was younger, I purchased a stylish sports coat to accompany Shella, the junior princess, to Channel Islands High School's homecoming game. A few days later, I wore that same coat to a funeral where Mother Ray praised me, saying, "Young man, you look so dignified!" I felt so proud.
Mr. Larry Murray, my high school counselor, treated me like family. He took me out with his sons on his boat and went above and beyond, even assisting my mom with college applications. He supported me, and I became the first of many in my family to earn a degree.
Today may you strive to live in a way that leaves a positive impact on the people around you, whether it be friends or strangers. Be unforgettable.
