Understanding For When The Truth Hasn’t Made Them Free
The Teacher famously said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
We have all heard it, and few challenged it.
Have you not met anyone who acknowledged the truth but remains in captivity, apparently aware of their condition? Their need for survival eats at them. If they escape their bondage, where will they go? They could be ostracized—rejected by their community. Their family could even turn them away. What are their economic considerations?
No job? No inheritance?
For some among us, their very lives are at stake.
So they choose security. Who can blame them? Maybe they will be free eventually.
On the other hand, there are humans they could stand in solidarity with who have no choice.
No choices at all.
We can only hope that the captive who knows the truth will not betray the ones who have no choice, the ones liberated by the truth but imprisoned by society.
