That Precious Prickly Person You Hold In Your Heart

It often follows that folks most deeply wounded are harder to stay close to. This makes a lot of sense if you think about it. We humans find healing primarily in communion with others, but sometimes, we hurt others more than they want to tolerate.

Remember, we always have permission to love.

Still, some difficult folks are closer to a breaking point than we can acknowledge.

We can help by including a mix of types in the community. Don’t let everything fall on the mother or an under-resourced teacher alone. Sometimes when we pray for a loved one's healing, we are really praying for the right people to draw near, whether or not we can for the moment.

We will all be rewarded.

If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come! (Matthew 18:6-7)
