Helping People? Just Do It For Yourself.

The people you love, the people you serve (which means pretty much anyone) are often immensely grateful for your support. Sometimes they express it with words or a gift. Some, though, have not even noticed you reaching out to them and for them.

Not hearing “thank you” after you’ve made a sacrifice for people can be a distraction.

Instead of expecting a good or negative response, do what you do for you. You might be a volunteer, or you might be paid. You might be a parent or a teacher.

When you love people, it benefits you (think of the alternative). It saves your soul and your sense of well-being. When you go to bed tonight knowing that you did good, it’s healthy for you. So forget about getting praise. Do good things for others and give yourself credit. God will be pleased.

Keep your head right for when you choose to move on.

Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. (1Peter 4:8)
