The Essence And Joy Of New Friends
As a child, I heard “Curiosity killed the cat.” Now it sounds kind of fascist and threateningly totalitarian. Curiosity is what brings you to life.
Since you are not confined to yesterday, your curiosity will lead you into new conversations because you are daring and creative. Some of those conversations may not be intersting or tolerable for people who have been traveling with you, but the conversations feel so right.
Count it a blessing that you are self-aware.
Your new friends don’t try to hold you to be the person you used to be. They never even met the person you used to be. The thing about liberation is that someone needs to have the courage to ask questions, to question authority. The person who asks the questions puts themself at risk. Unsafe as it may be and as uncomfortable as it can feel at first, you know that your path is in the midst of the most beautiful of gardens.
Hold on to the people who now want to hold on to you. Hold on as though you were meant for each other. You may need time to mourn some losses but do not lose sight of the gifts and surprises life is presenting you. Stop looking back and look at what you have.
